Harvested from the high elevations of Luminous Hills Vineyard, our 2016 Pinot Noir includes three different clones from three different blocks, grown on both volcanic and sedimentary soils. These individual factors work together to create a delicate bodied Pinot with layered complexity. The Pommard clone on Willakenzie sedimentary soil serves as the foundation, offering a velvety and fleshy mouthfeel with supporting black fruit character. Co-fermented in a Puncheon barrel, the majority of contrasting red fruit notes are found from the volcanic soils of clone 777; while the Dijon clone 667, grown on the steepest, eastern block of Luminous Hills, provides underlying baking spices and bountiful acidity, with just a touch of whole cluster fermentation. Recommended drinking window: 2024 to 2028.

Nebbiolo, a grape that is world renowned for the age-worthy wines produced in its home of Piedmont, which sits on the northeastern foothills of the Italian Alps. A grape that has everything naturally desired in a wine- firm tannins, elegant acidity, complex flavors, all beautifully woven together. Our 2018 Nebbiolo is a limited production release, with only 40 cases available. Grown and harvested from a small pocket within Columbia Valley’s Horse Heaven Hills AVA. This is one of the most complex aromatic wines, offering hints of rose, cherry, leather, spice & iron. On the palate, expect a bright burst of acidity at first, with an increasing tannin grip that last throughout the finish. Drink with your favorite pasta dishes for years to come. Drink now until 2030.

Expect an assortment of red & black berries, considerable earthiness & baking spices on the finish. 50% Pommard, 25% Dijon 677 & 25% Dijon 777. 38% whole cluster fermentation with native yeast. 20% new French oak. ELEGANT • SILKY • LENGTHY FINISH

This six-barrel blend was harvested October 1st, from a combination of high elevation blocks of Luminous Hills Vineyard. Utilizing a balance of major soils from the site, Jory volcanic and Willakenzie sedimentary (a roughly 50/50 split). And three distintive clones: 58% Pommard, 29% Dijon 777, 13% Dijon 667. Our 2019 drinks with soft, silky tannins. Complemented with lower new French oak use, a restrained 17% (one of six barrels). The wine drinks with powerful aromatics, notes of violets, hibiscus, and dark cherry. Then tart cranberry, fresh raspberry and finishes with white pepper on the palate. Drink now or cellar. Recommended drinking window from 2026 to 2029. Pair with wild salmon, duck, or wild mushroom pasta.

The very first Pinot Noir from our family estate in the Chehalem Mountains (planted in 2018). Farmed, vinified & bottled by our family to yours.

Our estate vineyard is 4.3 planted acres of Pinot Noir. Small, yes, but this allows our family to farm it exclusively- keeping diligent contact with every vine from bud break to harvest.

Our site is home to four distinctive soils that we planted five different clones of Pinot Noir. Given that 2020 was our third growing season, we expected smaller yields due to younger vines, but combined with a smaller berry set during flowering in spring, we harvested just over five barrels of wine come harvest. Just enough to get one barrel from each clone. We harvest each clone separately, then isolate in ferment and age each clone in its own barrel. We’re happy to report that we love the flavors. Each barrel representing its own identity of the vineyard which resulted in a wonderful combination of red and dark fruits, with underlying notes of savory earthiness that we strive for and crave.

Our 2020 Pinot Noir is a five-barrel blend of our entire vineyard:

  • Dijon 115 (Carlton): new French oak
  • Wadenswil (Carlton): once filled French oak
  • Pommard (Carlton): twice filled French oak
  • Dijon 114 (Dixonville): neutral French oak
  • Dijon 667 (Hazelair/Dupee): neutral French oak

Born from our vineyard's very first vintage in 2020, we've been bottle aging this wine in our cellar for the past three years for your enjoyment. Our Top Block Reserve is a single-barrel bottling from our best performing block in 2020, which happened to be from our highest elevation planting, thus the appropriate title, "Top Block Reserve". It is derived from one hundred percent Dijon 667 clone, planted on two distinct soils, and barrel-aged for one year in neutral French oak. We hastily picked these grapes before the wildfires that occurred that season- a memory we certainly won't forget anytime soon. This barrel stood out from the rest, offering a complex floral bouquet and a layered array of savory and dark fruit notes on the palate. This is one of the darkest Pinots we've ever produced which alludes to its profound structure- a bounty of concentrated tannins balanced out with lively acidity. We've enjoyed seeing this wine progress in bottle over the years and we're now delighted to share. Because of its limited production, only 18 cases are available and they will go quickly.

ELEGANT • SPICY • RED FRUIT

Planted along the banks for the Columbia River, at the southern tip of Horse Heaven Hills AVA, Alder Ridge Vineyard’s site selection is second to none. Benefiting from the warmer continental climate of Columbia Valley’s growing season, but with cooling effects from the proximity of the river, high winds from the gorge, and large drops in nighttime temperatures- a beautiful balance of enough heat to optimally ripen but cool enough to retain the fruit’s vibrancy.

This Grenache was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 31B, which is settled at low elevations along the riverbanks- one of the hottest parts of the vineyard. This location, along with the high winds from the gorge, allow the grape skins to thicken, resulting in highly concentrated, rich flavors.

When harvested, we completely destemmed then separated the berries into two separate ferments. After a five-day cold soak, we inoculated the ferment with two different yeast strains. With a healthy mix of pump overs & punchdowns, we constantly checked the ferments for optimal mouthfeel. Once fermentation was complete and the right amount of tannin was extracted, we drained the wine from the fermenter, then pressed. Once in barrel, the wine was cellared for extended aging (16 months). This process was very deliberate to deliver a Grenache that showcased a balance of finesse & definition on the palate- a silky texture with building tannin presence toward the finish. The final wine shows strong aromatics with a wonderful array of strawberry, baking spices, & white pepper notes.

This blend draws all three varietals from this special vineyard.

When crafting this blend, we started off with fifteen barrels to choose from, five barrels of each varietal. The possibility seemed endless but we did have a general consensus for a starting point- the Grenache would be the blend’s foundation on which to build. The Grenache has such a soft, silky and light body in comparison to the other bolder wines- Mourvèdre and Syrah. We worked through adding multiple barrel selections of both the Mourvèdre and Syrah to add the right amount of tannin and body while still maintaining the Grenache’s silky texture. The final blend completed as such: 1.5 barrels of Grenache, 1.5 barrels of Mourvèdre and 1 barrel of Syrah. The Grenache offers flavors of strawberry, vanilla and white pepper, the Mourvèdre gives way to a complex of botanicals, while the Syrah brings dark fruit, black licorice and charcoal. The fullness of flavor and balanced structure makes this one of our best creations to date. Drink now or cellar for years to come.

This Mourvèdre was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 29A, which is settled at low elevations along the riverbank- one of the hottest parts of the vineyard. This location, along with the high winds from the gorge, allow the grape skins to thicken, resulting in highly concentrated, rich flavors.

There’s always what seems to be the perfect pick of the season, and our 2021 Mourvèdre happened to be it. The balance of tannin, acidity and flavor for this wine was on point as soon as the grapes hit the fermenter. Aged for 16 months in barrel using a combination once-filled and neutral French oak. This wine is full of botanicals on the bouquet and palate- a depth of floral, herbaceous and spicy notes fill the glass with an underlying red fruit dominance of cherry & strawberry. The combination of acidity and tannin will allow this wine to cellar gracefully for years to come.

Pinot Noir from our family estate in the Chehalem Mountains (planted in 2018). Farmed, vinified & bottled by our family to yours.

57 cases produced. From a combination of three barrels that focuses on our sites more delicate features, BLEND 1 was built to showcase our vineyard's elegance. Chosen from barrels that felt softer & lighter on the palate, BLEND 1 has a makeup of 60 percent from our uppermost block (1). The higher elevation of block 1 allows cooler temperatures which is demonstrated by ripening roughly 10 days behind the rest of the vineyard and well as a increased comparative acidity during harvest. Along with BLEND 1's lighter weight and softer texture, it also offers more red fruit dominance on the palate as well as black tea notes- a common thread we find from the northeast part of the vineyard. To match the elegance of the wine, BLEND 1 contains no new oak, but mostly once-filled barrels to offer more fine tannin to match its delicate texture.

        • 17% Wadenswil (Carlton)

Pinot Noir from our family estate in the Chehalem Mountains (planted in 2018). Farmed, vinified & bottled by our family to yours.

95 cases produced. The mirror opposite to BLEND 1, BLEND 2 is five-barrel blend that showcases our site's strength and boldness. More than 90 percent of BLEND 2 is sourced from the southwestern portion of our site. The combination of lower-elevation, more structural clones (Pommard & Wadenswil) and predominantly Carlton soils makes for a more robust weight and size. BLEND 2 also offers more dark fruit driven and earthier flavors. Moreover, BLEND 2 was cellared with a combination of once-filled and twice-filled oak barrels, as well as a high-impact, new Francois Feres French oak barrel to provide more pronounced tannin textures to match the overall boldness of the wine.

104 cases produced. Much like our first-ever 2020 Pinot Noir from last year, BLEND 3 represents the entirety of the vineyard blended together. Our intention for BLEND 3 was to include every soil, rootstock, clone, elevation and aspect of slope into a single bottle so you can sip the whole site and vintage all at once, while simultaneously trying to make the best possible expression of the vineyard. BLEND 3 has it all, the red fruit and herbal notes of BLEND 1, along with the dark fruit and earthiness of BLEND 2, while meeting in the middle of elegance and robustness for a nice rounded mouthfeel. BLEND 3 is a five-barrel blend that include a low-impact new oak barrel as well as a combination of neutral oak.

This Syrah was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 10A, nestled at high elevations along the bluff which is beneficial for retaining the grape’s acidity, while the high winds from the gorge help thicken the grape’s skins throughout the growing season which is great for the formation of tannins. All this points to wonderfully structured fruit.

Once harvested, we separated the Syrah into two separate ferments using two different yeast strains. A California derived yeast yielded a fruit-forward wine full of blackberry and blueberry flavors, while the Rhone Valley derived yeast strain gave way to complex flavor profiles of black licorice, charcoal and black pepper. Along with great flavor, this wine is by far the biggest and boldest wine we’ve crafted. We barrel aged for 20 months to soften the texture which added some complementary oak flavors. Like the Mourvèdre, this wine was built to cellar and enjoy for years to come.

This Cabernet Franc was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 4, which is settled at high elevations along the western bluffs. This location, along with the high winds from the gorge, allow the grape skins to thicken, resulting in highly concentrated flavors.

If there was a wine that showcased King’s North minimalistic approach to winemaking, with the goal of developing flavors from the grape/vineyard rather than the winemaker, this is it. The grape shines through this wine with inherent flavors of raspberry, green bell pepper and clove. If you enjoy a truly earthy and herbaceous wine, look no further than this Cabernet Franc.

One hundred percent destemmed after hand sorting, the grapes were split into two ferments which completed prolonged cold soaks before yeast inoculation. After ferment, the wine was basket pressed into four barrels (one being an old 450L). Cellar aged for 18 months before bottling. The result was a balanced Cab Franc with medium body, deep & complex flavors and a lasting finish. Enjoy now or bottle age for ten years.

BOLD • FRESH • BLACK CURRANT

Planted along the banks for the Columbia River, at the southern tip of Horse Heaven Hills AVA, Alder Ridge Vineyard’s site selection is second to none. Benefiting from the warmer continental climate of Columbia Valley’s growing season, but with cooling effects from the proximity of the river, high winds from the gorge, and large drops in nighttime temperatures- creates a beautiful balance of enough heat to optimally ripen, but cool enough to retain the fruit’s vibrancy.

This Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 11, which is nestled in the center of the vineyard along the high elevation bluffs. This location, along with the high winds from the gorge, allow the grape skins to thicken, resulting in highly concentrated flavors.

This is the second Cabernet Sauvignon made from Alder Ridge Vineyard (first being 2020 vintage). To the recommendation of the vineyard manager, we decided to move from the renowned Block 5 to Block 11, as the fruit seemed to be preforming better here in passing seasons. We’re so glad we did because we believe this wine to be even better than our beloved 2020.

This Cab Sauv was made with one word in mind, elegance. We didn’t want to create an over- extracted, monolithic Cab that lacked depth. Instead, using gentle techniques during ferment and pressing, the resulting Cab shows vibrancy, finesse and nuance. Expect flavors of black currant, olive, graphite and an array of baking spices.

This Merlot was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 8, which is settled at mid elevations along the bluffs.

Once in barrel, the wine was cellared for extended aging (18 months). This process was very deliberate to deliver a Merlot that showcased a balance of finesse & definition on the palate- a velvety texture with building tannin presence toward the finish. The final wine shows strong aromatics with a wonderful array of dark cherry, caramel and chocolate notes.

The North Bank Blend is a Bordeaux-style blend containing 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Petit Verdot. Blending is a winemaker’s greatest tool- finding the right barrel combinations to make the final wine complete, balanced and delicious. Each grape is represented and plays its part. Merlot adds dominating red fruit flavors of dark cherry while adding a softening velvety structure to the wine. Cab Franc lends flavor complexity by adding herbal notes and supports the Merlot’s dark cherry with raspberry flavors. The Cab Sauv and Petit Verdot bring dark fruit flavors of black currant, violet and plum to the background while also adding richness, weight, body and tannin.

The name “North Bank Blend” is a play on the Bordeaux region in southwest France, where these grape varietals originate. Merlot dominant blends are traditionally referred to as “right bank” because they are grown on the right or east side of the Garonne River, which cuts through the center of the region. Whereas Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blends are referred to as “left bank”, grown from the west side of the river. For our Bordeaux-style wine, Alder Ridge Vineyard is on the north bank of the Columbia River, so naturally the name seemed fitting.

The 2022 North Bank Reserve is our top barrel selection of three Bordeaux varietals. This reserve blend was aged for 18 months in French oak to create a bold red, built with opulent flavor and considerable size. Petit Verdot lays the foundation of the blend, offering juicy black cherry flavor, floral lilac aromatics and vibrant acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are equally blended with supporting flavors of black currant, raspberry and herbaceous notes, while adding richness, weight, body and texture. Enjoy now or cellar for years to come. Recommended drinking window 8-12 years.

This Petit Verdot was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 33, which is planted on the crest of the bluffs overlooking the riverbanks. This location, along with the high winds from the gorge, allow the grape skins to thicken, resulting in highly concentrated flavors.

Traditionally seen as a blending grape in France, we brought in this varietal mostly to use in our Bordeaux-style blends, however after tasting this wine in ferment and during barrel aging, we quickly realized that this wine was a star all by itself. So we sparingly scattered some in blends but coveted what we could in a single varietal bottling (just 36 cases).

The beauty of Petit Verdot is the balance of two parts: thick, dark skins providing tannin and the grape’s natural bountiful acidity. Both of these combine to create a full bodied, deeply purple wine with fresh vibrancy on the palate. The fresh violet bouquet on the nose turns to lasting plum and sage flavors on the palate.

Farmed, vinified & bottled by our family to yours. Our estate vineyard is 4.3 planted acres of Pinot Noir. Small, yes, but this allows our family to farm it exclusively- keeping diligent contact with every vine from bud break to harvest.

When it comes to our own vineyard, our goal is to produce the best possible wines we can, while capturing the site's own diversity & distinctiveness. Each year we will produce as many blends to meet these two fundamental requirements. And just as each vintage is different from year to year, each blend we create will be too, and therefore assigned its own individual number- forever cataloging the count of hopefully a long line of uniquely delicious Pinot Noirs for years to come.

38 cases produced. A small, three-barrel blend showcasing the finesse & elegance of our vineyard, this blend was built choosing a combination of barrels that felt soft & delicate on the palate. Mostly pulling from our site's highest elevation block, specifically Dijon 667 clone planted on Dupee & Hazelair soils. This part of the vineyard is slower to ripen (harvested almost three weeks after our first pick), as it's 100 feet higher than the rest of the vineyard and shaded from the morning sun- this allows the grapes to retain their vibrant acidity on the vine which results in tarter fruit flavors and brightness on the palate. This Pinot Noir has tart cranberry, bing cherry & hints of savory black tea flavors. We decided to utilize only neutral French oak barrels, which align with the wine's naturally softer tannins, creating this year's silkiest and smoothest Pinot Noir.

86 cases produced. The counterpart to Blend 5, Blend 6 pulls from the exact opposite part of the vineyard, our southwestern blocks. The warmest and lowest elevation blocks house our Pommard & Wadenswil clones that are planted on Carlton soil. Year in and year out, we notice more savory and earthy flavors coming from this section of the vineyard, as well as firmer, more pronounced tannins that result in a wine with more body, weight and texture. 28% new French oak was chosen to match the wine's more robust structure, offering supportive flavors of toasted oak and baking spices. Likely the most cellar-worthy wine created this vintage, Blend 6 will continue to reward with age.

Blend 7 includes all the differing soils, rootstocks, clones, elevation and aspects that represent the entirety of our estate vineyard blended together. Because Blend 7 sees the multitude of all these factors combined, it lends to a natural, layered complexity in the wine. It contains both the tart red fruit flavors of Blend 5 and the earthy, savory notes of Blend 6, while adding wonderful raspberry notes associated with our Dijon 114 clone. This wine acts as the middleweight between the lightness of Blend 5 and the boldness of Blend 6, resulting in a very balance structure.

The 2023 Barbera was a two-ton fruit yield, separated into two unique one-ton ferments. Starting with a lengthy cold soak for seven days, the wine started ferment utilizing two distinct yeast strains. The wine was then pressed and separated into four neutral French oak barrels to cellar for 18 months. The resulting wine is extraordinarily approachable- smooth, low tannin but still drinks with considerable concentration & weight. There’s a large burst of juicy strawberry, tart raspberry and licorice, but the wine finishes with subtle notes of dried herbs and pepper for added complexity. Enjoy now or cellar for years to come with your favorite pizzas, red sauce pastas and grilled meats. Recommended drinking window 5-8 years.

After a series of challenging vintages, seeing a range of weather events from frost to heat domes and wildfires, the 2023 vintage was a sight for sore eyes. The spring started with cooler than average temps and received plentiful rainfall which delayed bud break to late April. But May saw record sunshine and little to no rain to quickly kick the season into high gear. From there, adequate temps and dryness throughout much of the summer lent to a condensed growing season after a slow start, which ripened the fruit to healthy perfection. In our opinion, 2023 will be viewed as an immaculate vintage in years to come.

Sourcing fruit from Eola-Amity Hills AVA was a calculated decision for Riesling. This region is known for its volcanic soils, as well as its natural cooling vectors- a combination of higher elevation sites and more importantly the constant winds inbound from a break in the Coast Range (the Van Duzer Corridor). This allowed prolonged hangtime on the vine to develop complex character while maintaining the fruits intense acidity. As anticipated, this was the last of our fruit harvested for the year.

We’ve had our eye on making a Riesling for years. Known to be naturally complex, vibrant and versatile, some of our favorite bottle aged wines have Riesling on the label. Trying to break the stigma of Riesling associated with sweetness, we decided to make this wine bone dry. Rather than sweetness being the star, without residual sugar, the focus shifts to the grape’s concentrated aromatics and piercing acidity. To help cut the bountiful acid, we barrel fermented in neutral French oak to bring richness and body to the palate. Balanced, dry and incredibly fragrant. A summer’s delight or a sushi lover’s dream.
