Planted along the banks for the Columbia River, at the southern tip of Horse Heaven Hills AVA, Alder Ridge Vineyard’s site selection is second to none. Benefiting from the warmer continental climate of Columbia Valley’s growing season, but with cooling effects from the proximity of the river, high winds from the gorge, and large drops in nighttime temperatures- creates a beautiful balance of enough heat to optimally ripen, but cool enough to retain the fruit’s vibrancy.
This Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from Alder Ridge Vineyard’s Block 11, which is nestled in the center of the vineyard along the high elevation bluffs. This location, along with the high winds from the gorge, allow the grape skins to thicken, resulting in highly concentrated flavors.
This is the second Cabernet Sauvignon made from Alder Ridge Vineyard (first being 2020 vintage). To the recommendation of the vineyard manager, we decided to move from the renowned Block 5 to Block 11, as the fruit seemed to be preforming better here in passing seasons. We’re so glad we did because we believe this wine to be even better than our beloved 2020.
This Cab Sauv was made with one word in mind, elegance. We didn’t want to create an over- extracted, monolithic Cab that lacked depth. Instead, using gentle techniques during ferment and pressing, the resulting Cab shows vibrancy, finesse and nuance. Expect flavors of black currant, olive, graphite and an array of baking spices.
